Marie Curie – East Midlands

This one is deeply personal – Marie Curie are there to talk, plan and prepare, to get things sorted in advance, with frontline nurses, hospices and a free support line to help people through their final years, months, days and hours of life – whether that be coronavirus, or any illness which someone is likely to die from. The bereavement service are also there for the people left behind after a loved one dies.

Refugee Action

Imagine what it’s like to flee your home in fear. To arrive in a new country with nothing but your life. You’ve survived. But how will you live? Refugee Action, help refugees who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes. They get refugees the basic support they need to live again with dignity, then help them build safe, happy and productive lives in the UK.

 

Shelter UK

Shelter is a registered charity that campaigns to end homelessness and bad housing in England and Scotland. It gives advice, information and advocacy to people in need, and tackles the root causes of bad housing by lobbying government and local authorities for new laws and policies to improve the lives of homeless and badly housed people.

C.O.P.E Laos

COPE stands for Cooperative Orthotic and Prosthetic Enterprise. Founded in 1997, COPE is a local organization that works with the National Rehabilitation Center (NRC), Lao Ministry of Health and five provincial rehabilitatoin centres in an innovative partnership developing rehabilitation services across Laos.
 

Angkor Hospital for Children

According to the latest statistics, 1 in every 20 children in Cambodia die before their 5th birthday, often from treatable and/or preventable illness. Although their standard of living is steadily improving, Cambodians still suffer from endemic poverty. Therefore, AHC provides outpatient, inpatient, intensive, surgical, and HIV care, as well as other services, free of charge.
